Locks, revolving-barrel.-In a door lock, the bolt or latch is operated by a revolving member journaled to the barrels of two cylinder locks, one on each side of the main lock, the member being engaged by the key of the cylinder locks. Fig. 1 shows the device applied to a mortise lock. The member m has a sleeve journaled to the pinlike extensions h and i of the barrels f, g of the cylinder locks and has a tongue k for operating the bolt. The key z positions the pin-tumblers to allow either barrel to revolve and also enters a groove n in the sleeve of the member m, coupling it to the barrel so that rotation of the key turns both the barrel and the member m, causing the tongue k to operate the bolt. The member is retained in the position in which the groove n is in line with the key-stop in the barrels by a catch r, and the barrels are held in their centred position by annular lips o, p fitted into grooves in the casing a, and are secured by a common screw d. The device may also be applied to a rim lock, in which case the sleeve of the member m is elongated as shown in Fig. 5 to allow the end of the key to reach it when the key is inserted into the cylinder lock on the outside of the door.
