Abstract
404,586. Revolving barrel locks. BIGLER, SPICHIGER, ET CIE AKT.-GES., Biglen, Switzerland. Aug. 31, 1933, No. 24172. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1932. [Class 44.] The revolving-barrel 8 of a pin-tumbler lock is moved axially by a helical spring 14 after it has been turned by a key 10, and is retained by a pin 12 engaging with a recess 17 in the fixed casing 1. The rotation of the barrel is limited by the pin 12 co-operating with a semicircular extension 13 of the lock casing 1. In addition to the usual pin-tumblers 2, 8<1>, spring- pressed shouldered pins 4 are provided in the casing to permit withdrawal of the key after the barrel has been turned through 180‹ to its unlocking position. When the barrel is pushed in by hand to shoot the bolt 11, the spring 14 which is tethered to the barrel 8 and the extension 13 of the casing, automatically rotates the barrel to its locking position. The pin 12 may be positively guided in a groove of small helical pitch formed in the extension 13 of the lock casing and adjoining the recess 17.
