Abstract

593,869. Locks. INGERSOLL Ltd., YOUNG, L. W., and TAYLOR, J. W. June 18, 1945, No. 15444. [Class 44] In a rim lock, the case is formed internally with apertured lugs registering with correspondingly apertured lugs on a cover plate which is first secured to the door, and the case is then secured to the cover plate by pins extending from the fore end of the case horizontally through the apertures in the lugs. The cover plate 2, having lugs 6, is secured to the door by screws 3, and the lock case 4, having lugs 5, is secured to the cover plate by pins 7 passing through the registering holes in the two sets of lugs. Preferably the pins 7 have enlarged parts 8 at the heads screwing into the case. The usual extension 9, drilled for screws 10, may be provided. A lock of the cylinder type may be secured by screws 12 passing through apertures in the cover plate. An additional cover plate may be screwed or otherwise attached to the back of the lock casing, and formed with slots for the entry of the lugs on the cover plate 2.
