Abstract
591,395. Dry shavers. SCOTCHER, H. M., and KNOWLES, F. W. May 10, 1945, No. 11683. [Class 131] A manually-operable dry shaver comprises two handles capable of relative movement against the action of a spring, a perforated or slotted guard plate of thin sheet material carried by one handle member, and a blade or blades carried by the other member, the blade or blades having one or more acute cutting edges movable in contact with the inner face of the guard plate and being resilient and/or resiliently mounted. In one form, Fig. 1, a handle member 2 is slidable on a pillar 4, secured to a handle member 1, against the action of a spring 3, the relative movement being limited by a pin slidable in a slot 11. The member 2 carries a spring 8 on which is mounted a resilient steel blade 6 which moves in contact with the inner face of a flat perforated guard plate 5 of thin sheet steel soldered to the member 1. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the guard plate is of arcuate shape. In a second form, Fig. 5, a handle member 15 is pivoted to a handle member 16 by means of a pin 18, and a resilient blade 20 is mounted on a pair of pins 21 carried by the member 16.
