A device for sharpening double-edged razor blades includes a double-ended manually reciprocable strop 9, a roller 8 oscillated by the strop, a blade holder 10 oscillated by the roller to bring opposed faces of the cutting edges of the blade alternately into contact with the strop, and a spring 17 having one end anchored to the roller 8 with the other end in engagement with the blade holder. Oscillations of the blade causes flexure of the spring which tends to hold the blade in a central position where it is out of contact with the strop. A pair of co-acting elements 15, 15a connect the roller and the holder.
