Abstract

551,727. Razor sharpeners. SPENCE, W. L. Oct. 8, 1941, Nos. 12976/41 and 186/42. [Class 60] A hone block for sharpening safety razor blades comprises a central flat smooth support T, Fig. 3, for the body of the blade and two inclined side surfaces G, G<SP>1</SP> whereby both edges are sharpened simultaneously when the blade is reciprocated longitudinally on the support T while the blade body is not subjected to any grinding action. The hone block also comprises a flat support T<SP>2</SP>, Fig. 1, for the body of the blade and two inclined side surfaces G<SP>2</SP>, G<SP>3</SP> whereby both blades are sharpened when the blade is reciprocated transversely the body being free from any grinding action. In the form shown two longitudinal edge grinding devices are disposed on one face parallel to one another and at right-angles to the device for transverse grinding arranged on the opposite face. In a modification the hone is formed of steel strip and provided with supporting flanges or feet BF, BF<SP>1</SP>; TF, TF<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 4.
