Abstract
326,754. Harrison, N. Sept. 20, 1929. Stropping-apparatus; wheels and other tools. -A holder for sharpening safety razor blades on a concave sharpening member comprises a face plate a, which is preferably convex, to contact with the blade x, and which carries two or more projections c passing through apertures in the blade, such projections being of definite length so as to contact, with the sharpening member and ensure the correct sharpening angle. The projections are preferably curved to agree with the curvature of the sharpening member. Fig. 2 shows a simple form in which the holder is directly manipulated by means of a handle b. In the construction shown in Figs. 5 and 6, a cylindrical sharpening member x<1> is used and the face plate a<1> is carried on arms e engaging, at their upper ends, a spindle f carried by rollers g and provided with a handle b' by means of which the device is rotated inside the member x' to sharpen the blade. Spring pressure is applied to the blade by means of a compression spring h placed between the spindle and a cross member e<2>, slots e<1> in the arms permitting relative movement of the spindle.
