Abstract

320,296. Calvert, E. G. B. Jan. 18, 1929. Stropping-apparatus. - A device for stropping single-edged safety razor blades consists of a plate c with side flanges k having pivoted thereto, at h, connected arms c in which are carried parallel spindles d, g geared together and lying across the plate e at an angle other than a right-angle. The spindle d carries a holder b for a blade a, and a strop, the width of which is greater than the length of the blade, is passed between the plate e and the spindle g, lying in a depression in the plate beneath the spindle. Reciprocation of the device along the strop by a handle f causes reversal of the blade and holder at the ends of the strokes, and during the stropping the blade edge lies diagonally across the strop.
