Abstract
253,008. Teitel, J. W. Dec. 17, 1925. V-slot sharpeners. - A sharpener for knives comprises steel sharpening members a of rectangular, oval, or other section mounted upon opposing flat inclined surfaces of a holder b by means of a cover plate e held by a screw l or by means of pressed out portions of the holder and screws or by screws alone. The holder is mounted in a frame c with the upper ends turned over the upper ends of the holder, and the parts are held in position by screws i passing through end cover plates m united by a base n and screwing into tubular portions h of the holder b; a handle d is provided, and the plates m are slotted at o to guide the knife. The steels a are in contact with each other at their narrow side edges; they may be pushed down, turned end for end or reversed as the surface becomes worn. In a modification, the frame c is secured to a base carrying camping-screws, whereby the sharpener may be secured to a bench &c. In another modification, Fig. 11, the steels are held between members b secured together by screws w, and sheet metal guides y for the knife are provided.
