V-slot and like blade sharpeners.- A knife or like sharpening appliance comprises a basel 1 surmounted bv a conical housing which consists of a top plate 3 integral with side plates 2 and end plates 12 and accommodates a pair of hard steel conical serrated sharpening-rollers 5 arranged in staggered relation, Fig. 1, so that their surfaces intersect a vertical plane passing through the knife-receiving slot 4. One of the end plates 12 carries a handle 13. The rollers have spigot ends extending into end plates 8, 9 and are pressed upward by springs 11 which yield if excessive pressure is applied. A pad of vulcanite may be fitted on the base adjacent the slot 4 to prevent contact. between the knife edge and the base.
