Abstract

258,135. Gibbons, K. M. Dec. 11, 1925. V-slot blade sharpeners; tools.-Knives &c. are sharpened by members 1, consisting of a cylindrical portion 4, a part conical portion 2, which may be fluted, and a spigot 5, the members being mounted in contact with one another and in staggered relationship to form a V-slot through which the knife is drawn. The spigots of the members 1 are located in holes in a plate 7 with upturned ends, and are retained in position by a cover plate 8 having slots therein to expose the sharpening-members and flanges 12 whereby the device is secured to a base 14. The sharpening- members may be turned by means of slots 3 in their upper ends, and two groups of members may be provided having surfaces of different quality or material, so that coarse and fine sharpening are provided for; the members may be formed of steel or carborundum.
