Abstract

131,130. Jones, W. T. Aug. 12,1918. V-slot blade sharpeners.-Relates to knifesharpeners of the type in which two series of resiliently-mounted sharpening-blocks D are arranged to intersect and form an acute angle or V-slot, in which the edge of the knife is sharpened by a to-and-fro motion. The invention consists in the provision of a guide or rest E having rollers F to receive the back of the knife under treatment. The distance of the guide E from the V-slot can be adjusted to accommodate knives of various widths by means of notches H and a slope J. According to the Provisional Specification, a series of guiding-notches for the back of the knife are formed upon a cam-shaped plate pivoted within the holder so as to be capable of rotation to present one or other of the notches according to the width of the knife to be sharpened.
