Abstract

256,423. Humpage, T. Sept. 28, 1925. Machine cutters, grinding in situ.- The rotary circular knife 22 of a cigarette making or like machine, which knife is reciprocated in a direction transverse to the cutting direction, is sharpened at the ends of its reciprocating movements by contact with two discs of emery paper 50, 51 carried by rotating metal discs 52, 53. The discs are carried in brackets 20. 21 carried by columns 14, 15 and are rotated by a belt 58 which passes round a driving pulley 56 on a shaft 4, round pulleys 54, 55 secured to the discs, and round an idler pulley 57. The inclination of the discs to the knife is adjustable, and the brackets 20, 21 may be adjustable to move the discs towards or from the knife. Specification 256,370 is referred to.
