Abstract
196,089. Duckworth, J. F., and Wallace, J. Jan. 17, 1922. V-slot and like blade sharpeners. - The two sides of the cutting-edge of a knife are sharpened separately by different portions of the sharpened edge a<1> of a steel disc a which is mounted by means of a screw b in a bracket c formed of bent sheet metal and provided with V-shaped openings e, e' into which the disc projects. The bracket may be secured to a handle f, or may be secured to a table &c. In order to prevent injury to the bracket by the knife, a shield d of hard metal is placed between the wall c<2> of the bracket and the disc. The disc may be rotated to present fresh cutting-portions to the openings e, e<1>. The Provisional Specification describes a construction in which a friction disc is interposed between the bracket and the cutting-disc to prevent rotation of this when the screw b is tightened.
