222,692. Rogers, J., (trading as Richn-ioni Electric Co.). Nov. 7, 1923. String-cutters.-A string-cutter comprises a 'holder for the cutting-blade and a slidable or centrally pivoted guard for the blade edge, the guard having a recess for the string which is cut by a sawing action upon the blade edge and the guard moving with the string during such sawing action. As shown the blade 14 is clamped between the two plates 7, 8 of the holder by the U-shaped guard 20 embracing the holder, the sides of the guard being pressed outwards to engage slidably with ribs 19 on the plates 7, 8; parts 21 limit the traverse of the guard. In a modification with a centrally pivoted guard the blade is held between the two holder plates by screws. The holder plates are formed with flanges for securing the cutter to a counter, string bcx, &c.
