Abstract

171,833. Jerrard, C. H. Sept. 18, 1920. V-slot blade sharpeners.-A device for sharpening knives &c. comprises star-shaped plates f<x>, g<x>, Fig. 1, of hardened steel or other material adjustably secured together and to a base b by a bolt e and wing-nut h. These plates may be mounted on two screws situated side by side. The knives &c. to be sharpened are drawn through the V-shaped openings formed between the plates. Alternatively, the plates may be comb-shaped, Fig. 5, and slotted at o, p, so as to be adjustably secured to a base k by a screw n. In the foregoing forms, the plates are bevelled so that the bevels converge towards the outer surfaces of the plates. A pocket form, similar to that shown in Fig. 1 but without a base, is bevelled so that the bevels of both plates converge in the same direction. According to the Provisional Specification, two flat plates having only one radial fianger are pivoted together to form a V.
