[Class 60] A sharpener for knives comprises a base c having thereon two inclined guide surfaces a, b forming a V along which the knife is reciprocated with its edge in contact with one or more sharpening-members e, made of roughened steel or artificial stone. Each sharpening-member is adjustably secured by a screw g in a hole f passing through the apex of the V, the edge of the hole being chamfered at h to leave spaces between the member e and the guide surfaces.
