661,824. Files and rasps. ABRASIVE TOOLS, Ltd., PERESS, J. S., and WOLSEY, W. Jan. 4, 1950 [Aug. 17, 1949], No. 21421/49. Class 61 (ii). A blank of relatively soft steel or the like having file or rasp teeth on its outer surface is case hardened by any suitable method to form a coating of hard metal over the outer surface of the teeth. The teeth 3 of a file have a hard outer casing 2 and a softer core which becomes exposed when the tips 4 become worn with use. With continued use the core is worn away more quickly than the hard broken edges which lie proud and serve as new cutting edges.
