Filing-apparatus, reciprocating.-A tool for sharpening scissors &c. is constructed with a file A, upon or in relation to which is mounted a double fence D adjustable angularly to suit the bevels on the cutting-edges of the scissors &c. to be sharpened. The fence D may be mounted on a casing B having a gap C in which the file is exposed for use. The file may be longitudinally adjusted in the casing when worn.
