Abstract

768,131. Diamond &c. core bits. VAN MOPPES & SONS (DIAMOND TOOLS), Ltd., L. M., and SMITH, N. R. Jan. 26, 1955 [Jan. 26, 1954], No. 2398/54. Class 124 A diamond nr like core bit having diamond or like cutting elements set in rows with watercourses between is formed from powdered metal in a metallic or carbon mould provided with grooves to form ribs on the bit, the diamonds being set in the ribs. As shown, the face of a mould is shaped to form radial or ratchet-like teeth 1 which have spaces 2 between them. Diamonds 4 are set in the edges of the teeth 1 and may be in curved rows or in straight parallel rows. The rows may be spaced by surfaces which incline upwardly in the direction of cutting movement of the bit. Deep watercourses 5 may be provided in the end face of the bit.
