601,428. Diamond &c. core bits. WHEEL TRUEING TOOL CO. OF DELAWARE. Oct. 29, 1945, No. 28528. Convention date, June 18. [Class 124] A core bit comprises a hollow cylindrical member the working end face 15 of which is formed integrally with an annular series of projecting nibs 16 spaced apart by gaps 18 of substantially the same height as the nibs, each nib being impregnated throughout by abrasive particles and having an arcuate contour of smaller radius of curvature than the internal radius of the cylindrical member. The nibs may be of cylindrical or double cylindrical form, their height preferably does not exceed their diameter, and they may extend radially inwards and outwards beyond the remainder of the bit. Laterally projecting portions 24, 24a may be provided along the junction lines of double cylindrical nibs 22. Each nib may comprise a matrix of iron, tungsten or tungsten carbide, impregnated with diamonds or diamond particles, and brazed together by bronze.
