Abstract
214,411. Robinson, A. T. March 19, 1923. Machine cutters, grinding in situ. - Guillotine and like knives are sharpened without removal from the machine by an abrading - stone D mounted in a frame C having pivots C<2> located in notches in side webs B<2> of an L- shaped holder B which rests on the machine table A<3> and is moved thereon to carry the stone D along the bevelled edge A<4> of the knife A. The stone adjusts itself automatically to the bevel of the knife and may be pressed thereagainst by a spring F. Antifriction rollers or like members E may be provided on the member B, and to enable the device to be held to remove the burr from the back of the knife edge, a thumb-hole B<6> is provided in one of the side webs B<2>. The webs B<2> may have therein a series of notches to enable the stone to be placed at different heights above the table A<3>, and the pivots C<2> may be placed to one side of the centre-line of the stone to give two different heights thereof for each pair of notches.
