Class 60 A holder, for sharpening safety-razor blades of the double-edged type, having a handle I, a flat portion 2 and studs 6, 7 to receive the blade and a slotted retaining member 8 is characterized by the back or outer face of the flat portion being rounded or bevelled along its longitudinal edges to provide a correct and small stropping angle when the holder is held against a stropping surface. The handle is formed from a strip of metal and the studs 6, 7, which engage the holes or slot in the blade, have annular grooves to receive the member 8 which clamps the blade against the flat portion 2. To avoid interference with the stropping action, the total thickness of the portion 2 and the member 8 is kept to a minimum while the studs 6, 7 may have rounded heads. The strop consists of a strip of leather secured to a block.
