A thin safety razor blade 7 is clamped between a guard plate 3 and. a backing plate 5 which, in addition to the normal curvature, are curved so that the cutting edges are flexed so as to be longitudinally curved, as at 8, about an axis transverse to the cutting edge, the guard plate being provided with shielding recesses into which the corners of the blade are forced by inturned lips 10 on the backing plate. In modifications the curvature 8 is concave or multiple, the other cutting edge being straight, and the handle 6 is provided with a flat 9 to indicate which cutting edge is in use.
