Abstract

1,248,168. Hair trimmer and shaver. S. J. POPEIL. 11 Feb., 1969 [8 Aug., 1968], No. 57652/69. Divided out of 1,248,167. Heading B4B. A hair cutter and shaver comprising a blade head 20 having two operative edges i.e.: a comb-and-trim edge and a shaving edge, the head being mounted on a member 18 so that it can be moved into or out of a hollow case 15 in order that one edge may be exposed while the other edge is within the case. The cutting head includes two plates 21, 22 between which a blade 19 is clamped by means of locks 24, 25 engaging with co-operating slots 28, 29. The head is formed with holes 27 adapted to engage with pins 34, 35 on the member 18 so that upon partially withdrawing the latter from the case 15, the head may be pivoted in order to select the desired edge. The member 18 is formed with stops 50 for resiliently engaging with shoulders 51 in the case. The plates 21, 22 are formed with teeth 41, 42 of different lengths so that, depending upon which teeth are in use, hair of different lengths may be cut. The member 18 may be made with side members (45, 46, Fig. 21) of more resilient form so that the stops 50 can be more easily disengaged from the shoulders 51. The parts of the device may be made from a plastics material.
