Abstract
669,172. Dry shavers. BRAUN, W. M. Jan. 9, 1950. [Jan. 25, 1949] No. 549/50. Class 131. [Also in Group XXXV] A dry shaver comprises a reciprocating cutter and a thin flexible shear plate stretched over the cutter and secured to the sides of the shaver casing below the base of the cutter. As shown, the cutter consists of a rectangular base plate 1 of metal or plastic material having upstanding cheeks 2 and a series of cutting blades 3 and is reciprocated on the end face 5 of the casing 4 by the engagement of a necked head 20 of a lever 19 with spring wires 17 in a recess 16 of the base plate. The lever 19 carries an armature 21 lying in the field of an electro-magnet 22, the oscillating movement of the lever round the centre 18 being limited by springs 23. Ball bearings 6 are interposed between the bearing faces of the base plate and the casing and the shear plate is removably secured to the casing by co-operating bayonet slots and buttons at one side the other side being secured by a clamping plate held in position by a binder screw.
