665,795. Dry shavers. HARRIS, J. T. (Richard & Ammann Soc. Anon.). Sept. 27, 1949. No. 24807/49. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 21, 1951] Class 131. [Also in Group VI] An electric dry shaver comprises a body, containing an electric motor, and two cutting heads, one at each end of the body, each cutting head being actuated by the adjacent end of the shaft of the motor. As shown, the close-shaving head 10 is of the kind disclosed in Specification 658,229, blades 15 being supported by springs 14 beneath a perforated plate secured by a removable cap 12 and rotated by a pin 8<SP>2</SP> frictionally engaged in the driving shaft 3. Cut hairs are collected in a groove 13. A long-hair cutter, provided at the opposite end of the cylindrical body 1 includes a stationary blade 18 and a moving blade 19 reciprocated by an eccentric 23 on a disc 22 mounted on the shaft 3 and provided with resilient fingers entering apertures in the head and forming abutments for coil springs urging the moving blade against the fixed blade. A projection 24 stretches the skin and a groove 25 collects cut hairs. An opening is provided for entry of a finger nail for abrasion against the serrated edge of the disc 22. The electric motor includes laminated pole pieces 7 curved concentrically or disposed radially to the body and retained in housings without the use of rivets. Switch means 27 is provided so that the shaver can be used with different ranges of supply voltage.
