Abstract

720,575. Dry shavers. DUPONT, B. TISSOT-. Sept. 8, 1952 [Oct. 15, 1951], No. 22544/52. Class 131. A dry shaver comprises a blade carrier reciprocated by an actuating lever and supporting blades arranged transversely to the direction of motion of the carrier and individually pressed against the inner face of an apertured guard plate which is curved with its axis of curvature parallel to the direction of motion of the blade carrier. As shown, an apertured guard 1 of hard spring metal is mounted in slots in supports 2, 3 spaced so that the guard is flexed to form part of the surface of a cylinder. Blades 4, supported in grooves in a blade carrier 5, are individually spring- urged towards the guard plate, the carrier being provided with a central aperture to receive an actuating lever 8 carrying a rubber damping roller 9 and oscillated by a shaft 12. The carrier 5 is supported by a spring 11 and convex washer 10 concentric with the shaft 12 so that the carrier 5 is reciprocated without compression of the spring 11. A device for cutting long hair comprises a toothed spring-urged cutter 14 reciprocated, beneath a comb 13, by a crank-pin 16 fixed in a part 17 which is mounted for rotation with the shaft 12. In modifications a greater number of blades are mounted in the carrier obliquely to the sides 2, 3 which are adjustable to vary the curvature of the guard.
