590,248. Shaving apparatus. BARSCH, G. April 11, 1945, No. 9078. Convention date, Feb. 19. [Class 131] [Also in Group XXIII] Dry-shaving apparatus comprises, besides cutting means, means for abrading the part of the bristles just cut and which still project from the skin. A grid 11, by means of which bristles are cut by a fixed knife-edge 14, is mounted in a revolving body 5 of abrasive stone, which comes into contact with the just cut bristles. The slits of the grid 11 may make an acute angle with the cutting-edge 14. The knife 12 has a bent part engaging in a slit of a casing 6 and is adjusted by a rotatable ring 16. A fan 21, which can be clutched to the stone-driving shaft 2, is provided to blow clippings out of the casing. The knife-edge 14 may be sharpened by an alternative cylindrical stone. The elements of the grid 11 may be sharpened by an accessory comprising an abrasive plate on a flexible blade mounted similarly to the knife. The knife-edge may be guarded from abrading stone by rims 41, 42, Fig. 6, of the grid. Modified forms of the abrading stone comprise conical and cylindrical with hemi-spherical end.
