Abstract

707,742. Razors. STEPHENSON, N. April 15, 1952 [Jan. 15, 1951], No. 1053/51. Class 30 A razor comprises a tubular cylindrical blade supported within a holder in the form of a cylindrical sheath, the bladehaving a number of circumferentially spaced cutting edges and being movable about its axis to register a selected cutting. edge with a slot in the holder, means also being provided to releasably secure theblade in the holder. As shown, a blade 1, having a series of helical slots 2 forming cutting edges 3, 4, is rotatable by a cap 14 to expose a preselected cutting edge 3 in a slot 9 in a resilient sheath 8. The sheath has flanges 19 secured in a two-part casing 18 forming a handle, the flanges being movable apart by rotating a wheel 26 to expand the sheath and allow removal of the blade for cleaning or replacement. In a modification the sheath and the blade are polygonal in cross-section, the blade, shown in Fig. 9, having cutting edges 29, 30 formed at the angles between adjacent sides, which may be curved, the blade being removable and repositionable in the holderto bring a selected cutting edge into register with a slot in the sheath. In further moditications there are two slots in the sheath, the cutting edge is formed on an upright tongue pressed up from the blade and the handle is a longitudinal extension of the sheath or is dispensed with, the razorbeing held in the hand by the holder.
