Abstract

826,867. Knife sheaths. PALDANIUS, L. A. Oct. 1, 1956, No. 29888/56. Class 119 [Also in Group XXIII] A knife blade sharpening element 22. Fig. 1, is secured adjacent a blade guiding slot or recess 22<SP>1</SP> in a plate 19 which is secured at the inlet of a knife sheath 11 so that the blade is sharpened upon each withdrawal of the knife. The plate 19, Fig. 1, which may be elliptical in shape, is secured by flanges to the opposite internal side walls of the sheath. The sharpening means may comprise angularly arranged abrasive elements 22, e.g. of cemented carbide, or a pair of overlapping rotatable discs 29, 30, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown). As shown in Fig. 4, one abrasive element 36 is fixed and the other 41 is movable between guides 38, 40 and spring- urged towards the element 36.
