Abstract

1,229,150. Food-slicing board. J. SHAFREN. 29 July, 1969, No. 37890/69. Heading A4C. A board suitable for use in the handcutting of broad rolls, comprises a generally rectangular board 1 with a plurality of elongate recesses 4a-4c and a plurality of round recesses 6a, 6b in a planar surface 7 which defines the uppermost extremities of these recesses. Abutments 9a-9c are removably insertable in holes 8a-8c provided at points between the recesses. A cover, not shown, is provided which is of similar size to board 1 and may be placed over all recesses. In use rolls are inserted into the recesses and a knife is passed along surface 7 of board 1 below the cover thereby severing the rolls at least partially, the movement of the knife being arrested by abutments 9a &c. if so desired. Spacers, e.g. 10, 11, are provided which may be inserted into selected recesses to alter their effective depth. A set of such spacers of varying thickness is provided for each of the two types of recess. The reverse surface of board 1 may be provided with planar abutments and a knife guide of the type disclosed in Specification 1,171,740.
