Abstract

821,861. Nuclear fuel elements. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Sept. 17, 1957 [Sept. 28, 1956], No. 29648/56. Class 39(4). Transverse fins of a fuel element are deflected in part, thereby promoting turbulance to increase heat transfer. Alternate segments 25 may be bent in the direction 22 of flow of fluid along a channel 21, the remaining segments 24 being bent in the opposite direction. The fins may or may not be slotted as shown at 23. After bending, the blade tips 29 are removed to a line 30, so that a cutting edge is presented to fluid flow.
