To facilitate the attachment of a guillotine knife B to its beam A and its removal therefrom, the beam has a rotatable spindle C to which is attached one end of a chain, cord or the like E secured detachably at its other end to the knife B at or near the upper edge thereof. The chain E is secured to a disc received in a slot in the knife, and the spindle C can be turned by a handle D to raise the knife from a holder having handles f<SP>2</SP> to the level of the beam A so that it may then be bolted to the beam.
