March 26,1947, No. 8202- [Class 5(i)] A machine for slicing vegetables comprises a body 6 on which a stepped disc carrying a detachable blade 1 rotates about a vertical axis 3, the vegetables being contained in a cylindrical hopper 4, of which the disc normally forms the base, and pressed down by a plunger 9. According to the invention, the hopper is pivoted to the body of the machine and is held down by a dog 7 so that it may be swung back about its pivot 5 to enable the blade 1 to be replaced. The dog 7 is pivoted at 8 on the body. The disc may be motor-driven or manually rotated.
