[Class 131] In a dry shaving apparatus the shaving head comprises a number of blades each mounted edgwise for rotation about an axis perpendicular to the surface to be shaved and having an arcuate edge at least where it is in contact with the undersurface of one of a corresponding number of perforated dome-like protuberances on a stationary guard. As shown the drive shaft 15 is rotated by a motor within the casing 11 and passes through a central opening in the plate 22 to be secured to a pinion 28 meshing with pinions 27 each of which is secured to a blade-carrying shaft 24. The shafts 24 are each forked at their upper ends and support a disc-like cutting blade 35 which is freely rotatable about the axle 36 so that the effective cutting arc in contact with the under-surface of the hemispherical protuberances' 45 is constantly renewed. The protuberances 45 are arranged in a circle on the outer surface of the guard 40 and may have elongated or circular perforations.
