758,287. Dry shavers. CHAUN, K. W. June 14, 1954, No. 17478/54. Class 131. A dry shaver comprises a shear cap mounted on a housing secured to the body of the dry shaver and provided with a central portion having a number of small apertures and a curved peripheral portion having curved slots forming cutting edges extending into the central portion and co-operating with oppositely curved blades extending radially and axially from a rotating cutter within the cap, inner and outer portions of the cutting edge of each blade simultaneously intersecting the cutting edge of a co-operating slot and, as the cutter rotates, the points of intersection coinciding in the peripheral curved portion of the cap. As shown, the shear cap 12, apertured at 27 and slotted at 26, is clamped by a retaining member 15 to a housing 4 secured to the body 1 and having a boss 7 rotatably supporting a spring-urged driving member 8. Driving pins 22 are loosely engaged in apertures in a disc 21 of the cutter 20 so that the cutter, provided with integral curved blades 24, can tilt. In a modification the blades are secured to the disc 21 and the shear cap is not flattened.: A tooth cleaning device is described which can be coupled to the driving pins 22 after removal of the shear cap and cutter.
