669,152. Dry shavers. SLUIJTEB, J. G. Nov. 4, 1949. [Dec. 21, 1948 ; March 16, 1949] Nos. 28342/49 and 28343/49. Class 131. A dry shaver comprises a rotary blade member and a stationary skin-engaging guard member, which are disk-like and dished to a conical form, concave to the surface to be shaved, and are provided with peripheral radial cutting teeth lying in planes generally parallel to the surface to be shaved and having their cutting edges inclined to each other, the blade member being pressed against the guard member by a spring reacting on a handle. As shown, the blade member 7 is rotated by gear teeth 6 and a bevel pinion 5 on a shaft 4, driven through a flexible connection 3, from the shaft 2 of an electric motor in the handle 1 and has a hub 8 fitting over a hub 9 of the guard 10. The hub 9 is secured by a screw 11, threaded into a sleeve 12, screwed into the handle and locked by the nut 13. The blade member is pressed on the guard by a cup 18 resting on a flat annular facing 19 and acted upon by a flat spring 20 apertured to encircle the hub 9 and having extensions pressing against the cup which is recessed to allow the passage of the bevel pinion. The axis of rotation of the blade member may be at.an obtuse angle to the longitudinal axis of the handle to facilitate shaving and the cutting edges may be protected by a ring 25 pivoted to the handle at 27.
