Abstract

994,518. Dry shavers. NEEDLE INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 17, 1963 [July 18, 1962], No. 27519/62. Addition to 984,791. Heading B4B. [Also in Divisions B3 and F2] In a shaver having an apertured guard member 14 against which is urged a cutter member 13 having one or more blade elements 18 in the form of concave shells metal is removed from the outer face 21, Fig. 2, of each shell in the locality of the contact face 22 as indicated at 27. The amount of metal removed is preferably such as to reduce the radial width of the face 22 to less than one-third of what it would otherwise be. The carrier member 19 for the blade elements is formed with raised portions 31 and each blade element is secured to the member 19 by means of a rivet the upper portion 34 of the shank of which passes through a hole 33 in the blade element. The lower portion 35 of the rivet shank is deformed to form a head 38 which holds the rivet against movement relative to the member 19 while still allowing freedom for the blade element to have limited floating and rocking movements. The arrangement for securing the blade element to the carrier member is stated to prevent hair and skin particles from clogging the joint between the carrier member and blade element.
