Abstract

1307670 Dry shavers PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [25 March 1970] 24846/71 Heading B4B A dry shaver head 1 comprises a shear plate 3 and a co-operating rotary cutter member 2 having at least one blade 9 resiliently mounted in a carrier 4, and biased by a spring 12, the centre of gravity 15 of the blade 9 being so arranged that when the blade 9 deviates in use from initial contact with the shear plate 3 the centrifugal and centripetal forces acting on the blade 9 provide a couple which tends to restore engagement with the shear plate 3. The or each blade 9 lies in a respective opening 8 of the carrier 4, and a curved edge 13 operatively engages the radially outer end of the opening 8 under centrifugal force. The centre of curvature 14 of the edge 13, centre of gravity 15 and point of contact 16 of the edge 13 with the opening 8 lie in a common straight line when the razor is not in use.
