Abstract
1453944 Dry shavers PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 21 Dec 1973 [12 Jan 1973] 59466/73 Heading B4B A rotatable cutter head 3 for a dry shaver having a perforated shear foil 1, the cutting head comprising a number of cutters 5 each guided in respective slot 6 in a support member 7, each cutter being formed with a cutting edge which is urged against the foil by a cantilevertype spring 10 mounted in the support member, the free end of the spring passing through a retaining slot 12 formed in the cutter. The springs 10 are formed integrally with radial arm members 18, the composite spring member 11 being stamped from a flat sheet of resilient material. The arms of the spring member are clamped against the support member by means of ribs 21 formed on a plate 14 which is held by a nut 20 on a boss 19 provided on the support member. Each cutter is assembled on the cutter head by inserting it through its associated slot 6 in the support causing the lower end 9 of the cutter to depress the free end of the spring until the latter springs into the slot 12 as shown in Fig. 1. In modifications, the springs may be formed from individual lengths of wire each spring being secured at one end to either the member 7 or plate 14; alternatively the ends may be clamped between the member and plate.
