Abstract

1,075,899. Dry shavers. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 17, 1964 [Aug. 20, 1963], No. 33505/64. Heading B4B. In a shaving head for a dry shaver comprising a circular shear plate 1, Fig. 1, formed with concentric annular grooves 9, 29 and a rotary cutter 2 having concentric rings of blades 4, 5 rotatable in the grooves, the radial width of the effective part of the shear plate is more than twice the overall width of the grooves. In a modification, the shear plate 11, Fig. 2, has concentric grooves 12, 13 and the rings of blades are formed by the limbs 17, 18, Fig. 3, of U-shaped plates 14 fixed in radial grooves 19 in a cast aluminium cutter body 15. The grooves 19 are formed partly in limbs 24 the sides of which are bevelled at 26, 27 so that cut hairs can be readily conducted away between the limbs towards a hair chamber located below the cutter body. A centring pin 21 fits rotatably in bore 22 of bearing sleeve 23.
