A dry shaver comprises a comb-like blade 44 and a comb-like guide 27, the guide being secured to a frame 26, Fig. 4, of spring material, the blade being secured to a carrier 34 having arms 35, 36, 38, 39 passing through aligned apertures 31, 32, 33 in the guide, and the blade being biased to operative position relative to the guide by means of compression springs 45, 46. The carrier has an aperture 40 engageable by an eccentric pin 22, Fig. 2, associated with the shaft 19 of an electric motor 11 for reciprocating the cutter relative to the guide. The arms 53, 54 of the frame 26 have apertures engageable by projections 57, 58 in the chamber 20 of a support 15 secured to the motor 11. As shown in Fig. 5, the comb tips of the blade rest on comb tips of the guide. In a modification, Fig. 7, the blade 44 and comb 27 are replaced by a blade 101 and comb 102 having relatively planar longitudinal edges at one side for cutting long hairs and curved apertured longitudinal edges at the other side for cutting short hairs.
