Abstract

1,255,135. Electric hair clippers. WAHL CLIPPER CORP. 30 Jan., 1970 [24 Feb., 1969], No. 4607/70. Heading B4B. An electric hair clipper comprises a rotary motor 35 driving an eccentric 62 which engages two flanges 66 projecting from a follower 65 engaging a reciprocable cutter 49 to move it relative to a fixed comb cutter 48. A spring 75 biases the cutting edge of the cutter 49 against the cutter 48. and a guide block 50, preferably made of low friction plastics, is mounted on the reciprocable cutter 49 to move in a transverse groove 51 in the fixed cutter 48. The block 50 has two yieldable bosses 54 which engage in apertures 53 in the cutter 49, so that the block is removable for sharpening the cutters etc. The follower 65 has a boss 70 engaging an opening or recess 71 in the cutter 49, the follower and eccentric 62 being made of low friction plastics material and the flanges 66 having lateral projections 95 engaging bosses 96 to retain the follower when the cutters are removed. The motor 35 holds the spring 77 flexed at 78, the motor being supported on bosses 36, 37 and having resilient packing 80, 81. A rechargable battery may also be provided and is restrained from movement by conductors (43), (44) Fig. 4 (not shown), and resilient packing 45, 46. In a second embodiment, a spring (75<SP>1</SP>) Figs. 23, 24 (not shown) may replace spring 75 to provide better isolation between the transmission and motor parts of the dipper.
