Abstract

1,173,124. Hair clippers. WAHL CLIPPER CORP. 12 March, 1968 [29 March, 1967], No. 11954/68. Heading B4B. In a hair clipper 10, Fig. 1, having a body 11, a movable cutter blade 15 and a stationary comb blade 16, an adjustable clipper head for the blades comprises a generally rectangular frame member 25 secured to the end of the body 11, the side portions 30, 31, Fig. 7, of the member 25 having vertical and horizontal guiding and bearing surfaces which are engaged by corresponding surfaces on an irregular member 40 so that the latter is slidable forwardly and rearwardly within the member 25, the member 40 having the blade 16 mounted thereon to vary the length of cut hair, the ratio of the width of the member 40 to the length of its sides engaging the side portions of the member 25 being less than 2: 1, the member 40 being movable backwardly and forwardly by means of a lever 21. Actuation of the lever rotates a shaft 22, Fig. 7, which has a rib 65 received within a recess 66, Fig. 8, in the member 40. The member 40 has forwardly extending fingers 55, 56, Fig. 7, engaging recesses 57, 58 in the guiding and bearing surfaces of the side portions of the member 25 in the region below the cutter blade 15. The path of travel of the member 40 is limited by means of shoulders 72, 73 thereon engaging shoulders 70, 71 on the side portions of the member 25. The member 25 is formed of a resilient plastic and the member of metal.
