Abstract

933,760. Safety razors. PHILIP MORRIS Inc. May 4, 1962 [July 28, 1961], No. 17185/62. Class 30. A safety razor comprises a resilient blade seat 16, Fig. 4, carrying a guard 19, a cap 14 carrying stops 20 for locating the cutting edge 22 of a blade 18 and a screw 30 for adjusting the seat relative to the cap for adjusting the shaving angle of the blade. A spring 24 engages the dull edge of the blade to press the ends of the cutting edge against the stops, the spring being movable from the blade-pressing position by the key 36, Fig. 7, of an injector magazine 37. To limit rearward movement of the seat and to provide limits for the adjusting action of the screw 30, the seat is provided at its ends with recesses 40, 41 to receive the lower ends of the stops 20, the recesses each being provided with front and rear shoulders 42, 43 to limit rearward and forward movement of the seat. In a modification, Fig. 12, the seat 16a is movable downwardly by means of a thumb piece 60 to facilitate washing the blade. When the seat is lowered, the blade is held in place by means of a spring 64 secured to the spring 24. In a further modification, Fig. 13 (not shown), the thumb piece has a portion extending downwardly substantially the full length of the handle.
