Abstract

1318485 Razors PHILIP MORRIS Inc 5 July 1971 [27 July 1970] 31397/71 Heading B4B A double edge safety razor comprises a pair of guards 14, 16 provided on a handle assembly 12 and a blade support assembly 20 mounted on the handle for floating movement of the blade cutting edges 46 transversely of the guards. The blade support assembly includes a pair of cap members 44 adapted to clamp the blade upon rotation of a sleeve 48 threaded on a portion 52 which is pivotally connected by a pin 22 to a handle 18 of the assembly 12. The guards 14, 16 are connected by a web 34 which is rigidly fixed to the handle 18 by means of a yoke 36. The portion 52 is provided with a rod 26 connected to a threaded stud 28 by a spring 24; the tension of the spring can be adjusted by means of a plug 30. In use, as shown in Fig. 6, the pressure of the cutting edge on the surface 54 of the skin is dependent only on the loading of the spring 24 irrespective of the pressure of the guard 16 on the skin by the loading on the handle 12 by the user. The tension spring may be replaced by a leaf spring or a rubber block. The conventional guards 70 on the blade support need not be provided.
