Abstract

941,454. Hair clippers. WAHL CLIPPER CORPORATION. June 12, 1961 [June 24. 1960], No. 21097/61. Heading B4B. An electrically operated hair clipper, in which the stationary blade 22 is movable longitudinally to vary the length of hair left uncut, has parallel guide surfaces 24, 26 on the end 18 of the casing section 16, and parallel guide surfaces 34, 36 on a support plate 32 mounted on the casing by screws 37, the opposed pairs of guide surfaces forming guide grooves 42, 44 in which slide the inturned ends 50, 52 of a channel-section bracket 48 to which the stationary blade 22 is secured by screws 54. As shown in Fig. 6, the guide grooves are offset. The bracket is moved relatively to the casing by movement of a hand lever 64 integral with a hub 62 which has a pin 66 engaging a recess 68 in the bracket and which is rotatably mounted on a pivot screw 56, extending through an opening 58 in the bracket 48 and engaging a threaded opening 60 in the support plate 32. The support plate is of low friction, resilient material such as moulded nylon permitting increase in design tolerances, a thin resilient front wall 35 with maximum exposure of the reciprocated blade and engagement by the drive finger 28 close to the teeth of the movable blade 20 to avoid twisting, and resilience in the sealing fin 70.
