Abstract

A slicing knife 14 is provided with an adjustable guide 26 comprising a block 33 having a surface contacting the knife handle 12, the handle-contacting surface being formed with a shoulder 34 engaging a shoulder 38 on the handle. The handle has a cavity 40 which receives an extension 42 of the block 33, an adjusting screw 46 to which a knob 56 is secured having a threaded shaft 44 engaging a threaded opening 42a in the extension 42. The shaft 44 is held axially in seatings 48, 50 in the handle 12 and is held against lateral movement in the handle by means of a releasable slide 58 having an opening 62 the width of which is greater than the diameter of a reduced portion 52 of the screw 46 but less than the diameter of a pair of shoulders on either side of the portion 52. The slide has a larger opening 64 to facilitate release of the screw 46. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 745,170.
