Abstract
570,737. Safety razors. ROLLS RAZOR, Ltd., and LAW, E. H. Jan. 26, 1944, No. 1493. [Class 30] In a safety razor of the kind in which the blade 16, Fig. 2, is held in a rigid jaw 1 by a clamping device carried by the 'handle, the clamping device is in the form of a plunger mounted in a handle part which is integral with the jaw and screw threaded to a lower handle part, and the plunger bearing directly against the lower face of the blade. In one form, Fig. 2, the plunger 7 is slidable in the upper part 3 of the handle and is operable by the lower part 4 of the handle which is provided with a recess 9 to receive fixedly or removably the lower end of the plunger. The upper end 8 of the plunger is rounded, and if the plunger is removable from the recess 9, both ends may be rounded for alternative use. In another form, Fig. 3, the plunger is pressed upwards by a spring 19, the pressure of which may be released, if necessary, to facilitate the insertion of the blade, by adjustment of the lower handle part 4. A further form is similar to. Fig. 3 but the plunger extends dow-n into a recess at the bottom of the handle part 4, the recess containing the spring 19 being closed at the lower end by a screwed plug.
